Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a very popular injectable treatment that plumps, volumises and lifts the skin leaving it smooth, contoured and youthful looking. Dermal fillers are able to treat deep facial lines providing instant results and virtually no downtime!

How do Dermal Fillers work?

As skin ages, it loses collagen which is like 'scaffolding for skin' that helps support and shape it. Over time, especially with sun exposure, smoking, air pollution and even stress natural lines and wrinkles deepen which can age your appearance. The most visible part of your body, the face is often worst affected as loss of volume can lead to sunken cheeks, smaller lips and a older looking skin.

Dermal fillers can be used to regain a youthful appearance. A specifically-formulated filler is injected into the face to augment and plump the area, this gives the face a fuller, younger looking appearance.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Dermal fillers are a man-made, non-animal substance that mimics the body’s natural depleted hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers are semi-permanent and provide safe, long-lasting and natural looking results to help correct skin conditions that develop as a result of the ageing process – such as loss of volume, skin folds and moderate-to-deep wrinkles.

What are the side effects and aftercare?

Side effects are generally minimal - some mild swelling, bruising or redness at the injection site is quite normal and will subside within a few days.

However after your treatment, we do recommend following this advice:

• Do not apply make up to treated areas for at least 12 hours
• Do not touch the injection site and keep the area really clean
• If you have lip augmentation – don’t drink anything too hot or cold
• Avoid extreme temperatures until redness and swelling subsides – no saunas, steam rooms, sun beds or sun exposure!
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours post treatment
• Avoid alcohol for 48 hours minimum post treatment

How long will the effects last?

The effects usually last between 6 months and 1 year, but we have seen the effects lasting up to 18 months depending on the area treated.
